Good Morning Yunus Saheb,

As-Salaam Alay-Kum

You wrote, “Why a U.S. President had to come forward to salvage a faith-civilization, that was virtually at the mercy of his foreign policy?” In turn, I want to ask you, “Why should the ‘Moderate Muslims, expect the leader of a powerful country to help figure out the Islamic ideology’s mumble jumble which our Ulemas, Imams and Muftis have jointly created?”

Wisdom of an American President should not be glorified. On the contrary, the lack of wisdom on part of the Muslim Intelligentsia must be examined. The “Muslim Terrorists, as you very well know possess the legitimacy to carry on with their evil deeds based upon the teachings they received from the man-made Islamic literature rather than the moral teachings of the Holy Qur’an. The question is, “How can ‘People of the Book, help us to sort out our own thousands of pages of the ‘Science of Hadiths’?

I

Distorted images of Muslims and Islam are triggered mainly by the evil deeds of the “Muslim Jihadists. A cult of bestial violence and naked terrorism, which you referred to, can only be the result of believing in one single Hadith:

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Know that Paradise is under the shades of swords.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 2818
Book 56, Hadith 34
Vol. 4, Book 52, Hadith 73

Narrated `Abdullah bin Abi `Aufa: – Source: http://sunnah.com/bukhari/56/34

Sword4

For crying out loud, let us use our “Common Sense” for change. If our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) has been declared by Almighty Allah as “And We have not sent you except as a mercy to mankind” (Surah: Al-Anbiyah’ [The Prophets] – Chapter: 21 – Verse: 107), then why on earth will the Paradise be under the shades of swords? Why not the Pen? “For you are truly of a sublime character.” (Surah: Al-Qalam (The Pen) – Chapter: 68 – Verse: 4).

Sword2

Surely, you have heard of the saying, “THOSE WHO LIVE BY THE SWORD, WILL DIE BY THE SWORD. Isn’t this the ultimate truth? Now, let’s ponder over one Biblical verse as follows:

“Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.”

Matthew 26:52- New International Version (NIV)

I

Yunus Saheb, so many of our Ulemas, Imams and Muftis have been tiptoeing through thousands of Hadiths. Each one of them, throughout the Islamic history have remained busy trying to formulate their own versions of “Methodology, on how best to translate the means of Holy Quran by ways of the “Science of Hadiths. Muslims all over the world can praise President Barack Obama’s speech as much as they want, but all sentiments poured will wash away after hearing of another stark display of historical barbarism by the modern day Nazis operating as ISIS. I would bet that these merciless killers wholeheartedly believe that Paradise is under the shades of swords. I say, let’s not continue to ignore such deadly teachings any longer.

Last but not the least, flipping through thousands of pages of Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim will not suffice. It’s the “Muslim Jihadists, who have gone astray by ignoring the commandments of Almighty Allah revealed in the Holy Quran. I am afraid, it is the moral responsibility of “We The Moderate Muslims, to extract the much needed wisdom from the Holy Qur’an by trying to comprehend the simple meaning of one important Qur’anic verse as follows:

“Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and fair exhortation and
reason with them in a way that is best. Your Lord knows best those
who have strayed away from His path, and He knows best those
who are rightly guided.”

Sūrah: Al-Nahl (The Bees) – Chapter: 16 – Verse: 125

NahlThat’s all for now, Yunus Saheb.

Kind personal regards,

Mohammed Rafiq Lodhia

Subject: WHAT’S THE OBSESSION WITH NECKS AND SWORDS?

To: All Respected Muslim Readers – New Age Islam Forum

It always amazes me, whenever Islamic scholars refer to the Hadiths with a word Neck,” in it. Then there is one devout Muslim, who further clarifies it by inserting the word in a bracket as follows:

Striking the necks (cutting the throats).

By striking (cutting) the necks.

Chopping the heads of one another.

Stick the necks of the other.

It is profoundly shocking to know that most of the references are extracted from the Hadiths, and far few from the Holy Quran. Little wonder that American intellectuals like, Andrew C. McCarthy, are swift to mention as follows:

“The clear suggestion was that the terrorists deceive when they assert that Islamic scripture commands Muslims to, for example, “strike terror into the hearts” of non-believers, decapitate them (“smite their necks”), or enslave them. “

No doubt, there are verses in Torah and Bible that also refers to “Killing, but it is unfortunate that our “Ulemas, Imams and Muftis,” have not yet been able to evolve. It seems like they are all stuck in the 7th century.

What do the “Moderate Muslims expect the westerners to write about Islam? All one has to do is to look at the rebuttals of two dedicated commentators of New Age Islam forum. Yes, I have to use the word “Shame. It is truly sad that the “Authoritativeness of Qur’an has been deliberately ignored.

By the way, if sentiments are hurt, then I am sorry. The truth of the matter is that it will be better to look at the mirror and figure out why our great religion of Islam is being constantly questioned by so many people hailing from different faiths. The word to the wise is sufficient.

Subject: WHATEVER HAPPENED TO “ENLIGHTENED MODERATION?”

Dear Yunus Saheb,

As-Salaam Alay-Kum

Appreciating the sentiments which you have expressed in your article pertaining to the historical significance of President Obama’s speech, I would like to share with you the following links:

The source of religious extremism

David BrooksThe Seattle TimesFebruary 21, 2015

Extremism isn’t mostly about Islam. It is about a yearning for righteousness rendered malevolent by apocalyptic theology. Muslim clerics can fix the theology. The rest of us can help redirect the spiritual ardor toward humane and productive ends.

It Doesn’t Matter One Bit What Obama Thinks ‘True Islam’ Is

There may well be a civil war going on within Islam, but it will be Muslims, not American politicians, who settle it.

Andrew C. McCarthy National ReviewFebruary 21, 2015

“In his summit speech, Obama made the concession — which was almost shocking coming from him — that ISIS and al-Qaeda terrorists “do draw” from “Islamic texts.” He mocked them, however, for doing so “selectively.” The clear suggestion was that the terrorists deceive when they assert that Islamic scripture commands Muslims to, for example, “strike terror into the hearts” of non-believers, decapitate them (“smite their necks”), or enslave them. He intimated that there must be some balancing scriptures, some other side of the story nullifying these belligerent commands.”

The Hate Whose Name They Dare Not Speak

The Editors – National ReviewFebruary 19, 2015

As the president correctly notes, the Islamic State is at the moment a much bigger problem for the Islamic world, which is bearing the brunt of its violence, than for the West. But as the monuments in Washington, New York, and Pennsylvania remind us — as the victims of “workplace violence” at Fort Hood remind us, as the plugged-up bullet holes at LAX remind us — it is our problem, too. Barack Obama is not the president of the world; he is the president of the United States, and his principal duty is seeing to our national security. Wishful thinking and sentimental letters from fifth-grade girls will not solve the problem — not when the president cannot even quite bring himself to say, honestly and forthrightly, what the problem is.

Sisi and the Reform of Islam

Daniel Pipes National ReviewJanuary 19, 2015

“To begin with, no matter how fine Sisi’s ideas, no politician — and especially no strongman — has moved modern Islam. Ataturk’s reforms in Turkey are systematically being reversed. A decade ago, King Abdullah II of Jordan and President Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan gave similarly fine speeches on “the true voice of Islam” and “enlightened moderation” that immediately disappeared from view. Yes, Sisi’s comments are stronger, but he is not a religious authority and, in all likelihood, they too will disappear without a trace.”

Suspecting that my fellow American Muslims are likely to object to the articles by Andrew C. McCarthy and Daniel Pipes, I want to draw the kind attention of the leaders to my brief comments as follows:

Muslim clergy can fix the theology.

MRL – How is that possible given that Muslim clergy class are so fragmented and can never work in a cohesive manner? That’s next to impossible.

It will be Muslims, not American politicians who will settle it.

MRL – Yes, of course. The question is, “Are there few good Muslim religious and political leaders courageous enough to confront the perverted theology based upon the secondary sources of Islam?”

The Islamic state is at the moment a much bigger problem for the Islamic world.

MRL – Without an iota of doubt it is. Acting as “Speech Police, by silencing others will not help us get to the root cause of the problem we are in. American intellectuals are not beating around the bush. They might be a bit prejudiced about Islam; nevertheless, they do make some valid points which the Muslims must not flat-out ignore. They are asking American Muslims some very uncomfortable questions, which we are unable to answer. I say, let’s listen up and clean up our own backyard.

They too will disappear without a trace.

MRL – No matter how much the American Muslim leaders dislike Daniel Pipes, there are certain points that he has raised which must be taken into consideration. The slogan “Enlightened Moderation, tossed by Pervez Musharraf turned out to be nothing but hollow. The truth of the matter is, the citizens of Pakistan could care less.

All in all, believe it or not, the praise over President Obama’s speech will fizzle out with, another earth-shattering headline news. It will be much more wiser, I repeat, wiser on part of Muslim leaders in the Islamic countries to seriously engage in a debate and sort out the massive confusion over the sacred texts which is divine versus the secondary literature which are man-made version. There cannot be nor should there be, any more ifs and buts about it.

Kind personal regards,

Mohammed Rafiq Lodhia
